Micaela is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), Certified Behaviour Analyst (CBA, Australia), Nationally Recognised Nutritionist, and Special Educator. With 25+ years of experience in behaviour therapy and behavioural health education, she brings deep expertise and a practical, compassionate approach to behaviour change and is known for making complex strategies simple, actionable, and sustainable.


Almost 6 years ago, I turned my focus inward and committed to transforming my own health. Like many people, I had been stuck in familiar cycles - starting strong with motivation, then burning out, setting perfectionist goals that derailed progress, and struggling to build habits that truly stuck.
What changed everything was when I began applying the same behavioural science I had spent decades using to support others, this time, to myself. With the education, guidance, and systematic use of behavioural principles from some incredible coaches, I was able to shift my habits around food, movement, mindset, and recovery in a way that finally felt sustainable.
The principles I had used for years to help children build communication, emotional regulation and coping skills, and to coach parents and educators in reducing severe problem behaviour, became the exact tools I needed for my own health and fitness goals.
As a result of this life-changing behaviour change, I became a qualified surf lifesaver, and went on to complete multiple endurance events, including SwimRun adventure races, open-water swims, and countless fun runs. But more importantly, I found a way to show up consistently, for myself, with energy, confidence, and purpose.
This personal transformation deepened my belief in the power of behaviour science - not just in therapy rooms or classrooms, but in everyday life.
That belief is built on over 25 years of experience as a behaviour analyst and special educator, supporting children with disabilities, helping families navigate complex behavioural challenges, and coaching professionals across health and education settings.
I founded Behaviour Balance to bridge those worlds and to make behavioural science accessible, actionable, and effective for anyone ready to improve their health, performance, and wellbeing. Whether I’m working with fitness professionals, educators, or individuals, my mission is to help people take practical steps toward lasting change, one behaviour at a time.
